Mariano Tezanos Castro was born in Madrid in 1949 on Ministriles Street No. 6. His affection towards the guitar started from when he was very young; he would spend time with his father who had a small guitar shop inside the house. After finishing his studies in 1963, Sen. Tezanos Castro started working with Jose Ramirez III, first as an apprentice and later at the level of other master luthiers such as his father and all others. In 1984 he started building his own instruments in the Ramirez shop with initials stamped M.T.C. No.10. Leveraging their experiences, he got together with his colleague Teodoro G. Perez and started building instruments under the name: M. Tezanos Perez. As of April 1st, 2005 Mariano & Teodoro parted amicably and Mariano now continues to built the famous Maestro Model.
